The recently held 12th edition of the Indian Auto Expo at Greater Noida near New Delhi concluded after bearing witness to several launches, showcases, teasers and a foot fall of over five and a half lakh individuals who visited the event.
Encompassing a colossal area and spread over 16 massive halls, manufacturers displayed their concepts and cars for the future in between their current cars and face lifted models. These companies found imaginative ways of displaying their vehicles – some were kept on pedestals, some on rotating platforms and some even mounted on the walls! Launches were accompanied by a lot of pomp and circumstance, dynamic music and in some case, even theatrics.
Giving solid evidence that this is the second largest motor show in the world, this edition of the Indian auto expo saw a total of 69 cars being launched by 23 car and SUV manufacturers, 6 electric vehicle exhibitors, 14 two and three wheeler exhibitors, 10 commercial vehicle exhibitors and 47 others. Some of the more important cars that saw their launch happening at this auto expo were the Maruti Suzuki Celerio, Audi A3, Honda Mobilio, Hyundai Xcent, Renault Fluence face-lift, the new Skoda Superb and Yeti and the Tata Bolt and Zest.
Several more exciting cars were also launched or introduced during the event, such as the Audi Sport Quattro, BMW i8, BMW M6 Gran Coupe, Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, Chevrolet Camaro, Jaguar F-Type Coupe, Maruti Suzuki SX4 S-Cross, Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG, Mercedes-Benz GLA Class, Mini John Cooper Works, Renault Megane RS, Volkswagen Taigun, Jaguar C-X17, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Tata Nexon, Honda NSX, Nissan GT-R racing version, Renault Kwid and the Toyota GT86. The number of people visiting was the highest by far on Sunday (no surprises there!), with the count hitting a staggering 1,21,000 individuals.
