General Motors India (GMI) is set to launch its iconic Cadillac range of luxury cars in the Indian car market. The luxury car was showcased in the Auto Expo last year and now the car manufacturer is gearing up for the launch.
The Cadillac was earlier supposed to be launched in 2008 but the falling car sales and meltdown in the global car market pushed back the new car launch. It will now be introduced with a 3.6-litre direct-injection V-6 VVT engine delivering 311 bhp of power. It will also have 18-inch wheels and will be partly hand-crafted. Expected to come at a price tag of about Rs 50 Lakh, the proposed Cadillac will compete with leading luxury cars from the portfolio of Mercedes-Benz, Audi and BMW.
In addition, General Motors has also announced to launch the Cruze this year to compete with leading premium sedans like Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla and the Hyundai Sonata. GMI President Mr. Karl Slym said, “We are gearing up to launch more products powered by alternative fuels like CNG and LPG. We have already launched Optra sedan on CNG and will launch a few more vehicles fired by LPG in the first half of this year.”
