India's renowned car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki, has recorded a declined car sales in December 2008. The company saw a fall of 9.95 percent with 56,293 units compared to 62,515 units in the same month of 2007.
The company's domestic sales registered 52,029 units against 58,401 units in the same month a year ago, down by 10.91 percent.
However, exports registered a growth of 3.65 per cent at 4,264 units in contrast to 4,114 units in the corresponding month the previous year.
The sales of Maruti 800 went down by 59.57 per cent at 2,907 units against 7,190 units in 2007. Other models like the Alto, Zen Estilo, Swift, and the WagonR from the A2-segment accounted a slope of 6.93 per cent at 36,831 units compared to 39,575 units in 2007.
The A3 segment had some luck in sales with Models like the SX4 and Swift DZire witnessing a growth of 98.24 per cent at 6,524 units much lower than 3,291 units last year.
The overall sales figure of passenger cars dipped by 11.15 per cent to 51,612 units against 58,090 units in the previous year.
