Mahindra & Mahindra Plans Hybrid and Electric Cars for India

Mahindra & Mahindra, a leading passenger car and commercial vehicle manufacturer, plans to introduce fuel-efficient cars to the Indian car market.

On this account, Head-Design, Mahindra & Mahindra, B Bhaumik said, “We have to develop technologies for hybrid and electric vehicles. In a couple of years, we will launch hybrid and electric vehicles.”

The company has already started working on its plans to launch new cars based on the Ingenio platform. The launches will include passenger cars as well as the commercial vehicles and low-tonnage vehicles.

Bhaumik also said, “Mahindra is spending Rs 100 Crore per annum on productive segments, which includes software development, prototyping, testing, and in-house infrastructure to develop new models.” According to him, India has a huge potential for car designing, all they need is a design development centre with world class infrastructure and high quality equipments.
