Hindustan Motors Plans for another Price Cut

By Motortrend India Staff   |   26 February,2009

After slashing the prices of Ambassador and Lancer cars last December, Hindustan Motors is now planning to go for another price cut. It has decided to cut the prices of its light commercial vehicle, the Winner, a 2.3 ton mini truck.

The price cut is in response to the government announcement of 2% reduction in excise duty. The company wants to pass on the full benefit of this duty cut to its customers. This will reduce the price of the mini truck by around Rs 7000. The ex-show room price of Winner would be approximately Rs 3.83 Lakh after the cut (which costs Rs 3.9 Lakh currently).

Mr. Ravi Santhanam, Managing Director, Hindustan Motors said “We have responded to the government’s move by passing on the benefit from the excise duty cut to our customers. This move will certainly help in increasing demand.”
