The impressive sales volume of the Punjab car market gave a boost to the company’s national sales. The overall sales of Mercedes in India grew by 45.77% over the previous year.
Suhas Kadlaskar, Mercedes-Benz India Director of Corporate Affairs said, “Punjab is a very important market for us and we are aggressively looking at the region with new product line. Especially Ludhiana has responded well to the Mercedes sales.”
In the year 2008, the company has sold 276 cars in Punjab which also include Chandigarh and a part of Haryana against only 175 cars sold in 2007. According to the company, sales in Delhi contributed roughly 38% and remaining shared by western and southern markets.
Suhas Kadlaskar also pointed that the first two quarters of the year 2009 will be challenging for the company because of the ongoing slowdown.
