India’s leading car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki has witnessed highest ever sales in January 2009. The company had also registered good sales in November 2007 when it sold 65,216 units.
In January, Maruti has recorded a rise of 5.6% in the domestic sales and 2.7% in export. The company exported a total of 4774 units in the same month. This accounts for overall sales of 71,779 vehicles in January that accounts for a rise of 5.4% over corresponding month last fiscal. In comparison, the highest overall sales were experienced in March 2007, when the company sold out 71,772 units.
Maruti Suzuki in the month of January records sales of 5571 units in the A1 segment that only includes its flagship model, Maruti 800. In the C segment comprising the Omni and the Versa, the company has accounted for a fall of 12.4% as compared to the same month last fiscal. The A2 segment comprising of the Alto, WagonR, Zen, Swift, and the A-Star recorded sales of 46899 units that accounts for a rise of 2.0% against January 2008. The highest sales are recorded in the A3 segment comprising the SX4, Esteem, and the Dzire. This segment records sales of 6590 units accounting for a rise of 124.2% over corresponding month last fiscal.
