The Porsche Panamera showcases the world premiere of five innovative car technologies that are expected to set new benchmarks in the car industry.
It is the fourth model from Porsche and is expected to achieve the same outstanding position as the 911, Cayenne, Boxster, and Cayman. The Panamera is the first Porsche's car that combines the traditional features of Porsche cars and the emotional characters of a true sports car to deliver superior space, refined comfort, and outstanding driving experience.
The proposed car is a leader in terms of performance, driving dynamics, and efficiency as these attributes play a crucial role motorsport. The five key technologies include the start/stop technology in conjunction with automatic transmission, adaptive air suspension with additional air volume (on demand), as well as active aerodynamics with a multi-stage, adjustable rear spoiler moving up when required on the Panamera Turbo.
The powertrain of the Panamera comprises the most hi-tech power units including the most advanced and fuel-efficient Direct Fuel Injection. The performance is further optimized by innovations such as map-controlled coolant/temperature management, and ancillary units with enhanced efficiency.
Porsche will introduce the PDK transmission that comprises a double-clutch gearbox contributing to enhanced fuel efficiency and higher standard of sporting performance. Further to that the first start/stop system in the Panamera with an automatic transmission is a completely new concept. The technology in conjunction with tyres having minimum roll resistance and disc brakes with residual brake forces is believed to improve fuel efficiency to a greater extent.
The chassis and suspension of the Panamera offers a perfect harmonization of sporting performance and superior comfort. In the basic mode it offers a high standard of driving comfort and press of one button on the active PASM damper system turns the system into a thoroughbred sports suspension.
Additionally, the adaptive air suspension featured as standard on the turbo and optional on other variants offers a greater variation of sporting and comfort. Furthermore, the active PDCC stability control available in combination with a fully controlled rear axle differential helps improve driving dynamics and comfort.
The car also features a Sport Plus button that enables the driver to choose the uncompromising high-performance set-up of all drivetrain and suspension systems including PTM (Porsche Traction Management) with its fully-controlled all-wheel drive at just one touch of a button.
