Tata Motors and Castrol are together working on a specialized low-cost fuel-efficient lubricant for the world’s cheapest car, the Nano. Castrol is the worldwide provider and producer of synthetic and conventional motor oils.
The proposed lubricant is believed to reduce emissions and ensure higher longevity of car engine. It is being developed keeping in mind the congested route the Nano will pass through as well as the wear and tear of the engine.
Commenting on the account, director of Castrol India, AS Ramchander said, “I believe that Nano has a huge potential not just in India but also in the developed markets.”
Adding to this some of the analysts believe that if the right type of lubricant is used in the Nano there are possibilities to have a cost savings of about 5%. They also added that the car manufacturer has made many modifications with their unique technological creativity to improve fuel efficiency. The petrol variant of the car is expected to give a mileage of 20 km/l.
