Ford is planning to build a small car called as Focus which will be manufactured in its Michigan Truck plant, as well as in Asia and Europe.
Alan Mulally, CEO, Ford Motors said, “With reduced labour costs from new union work rules and global production, the Focus in the U.S. will be “profitable from initial production” starting next year.”
The company is expected to invest nearly $550 million in order to manufacture the new car in the Michigan plant and will gather $160 million in local and state tax incentives. The specification or the price of the car is not yet revealed. Also, the manufacturing location (Europe or Asia) for the car is not disclosed. Though it is very early to say whether it will make it way to India or not, there is every possibility for it to arrive in the small car segment dominated Indian car industry.
