Honda to Roll out Cars with India-Specific Engines

The Japanese car giant Honda is planning to bring in cars with India specific engines that will run smoothly on the Indian roads. Its upcoming new car model ‘Jazz’ will be fitted with engine designed especially for India. The company has already introduced the Jazz in UK with a 1.2-litre that produces 88.7bhp.

In India, Honda is present through a joint venture with Siel. Currently, its four models the City, Civic, Accord and the SUV CR-V are available in the Indian car market. Indian customers have already accepted Honda as a quality car manufacturer with all its models becoming popular in the individual classes.

When asked about whether the company would roll out new models custom made for Indian conditions and market, the V.P. (Marketing) of Honda Siel cars India Mr. Jnaneswar Sen said, “As and when opportunity arises, we cannot rule out such a possibility. All our products are introduced after detailed study.”

He further added that according to Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) certification, under standard testing conditions, Honda Jazz has proven to deliver a mileage of 16.1 km/l. With this premium hatchback, Honda is venturing into the small car market to strengthen its presence in India.
