Tata Nano reported an overwhelming response during its booking period. It grabbed 2.03 Lakh fully paid bookings amounting to nearly Rs. 2,500 Crore.
During the booking period, the Nano website witnessed a whopping 30 million hits! Around 14 lakh people walked into Tata Motors' showrooms, Westside, and Croma stores across the country to see the car.
From the booking centres, 6.10 lakh forms were purchased. Out of the 2.03 lakh bookings, 70 % were financed. About 400 cash bookings were received through the Nano website www.tatanano.com. Among the three variants, the top-end model Nano LX received 50% of the total bookings. Whereas, the Nano CX and the Nano Standard received 30% and 20% of the total booking.
Through a computerised random selection procedure, the initial 1,00,000 allottees will be selected. The unsuccessful applicants, who fail to fall under the initial one Lakh can retain their booking and can receive an interest on their booking amount in the second round of allotment.
Though the much awaited car has already been launched and the bookings were open for the first time, it is going to take some more time for the car to be easily available in the showrooms. The company is still waiting to analyze the response pattern before starting the production in full capacity.
