The Switzerland based Oetiker Group inaugurated its first manufacturing plant at Patalganga near Mumbai, on Monday. The inauguration was attended by Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Oetiker Group Mr. Ulrich Meier, country head Oetiker India Pvt. Ltd., Mr. Ashwani Keswani and Swizz council general Mr. Peter Specker.
Oetiker is a leading automotive supplier of connecting technology that supplies clamps and rings to fasten hoses, pipes, and other objects in an automobile. The manufacturing plant’s construction involved an investment of Rs 60 Crore which has a capacity to produce 75 million. The new plant will be able to supply components to auto manufacturing plants in North, West and South regions of the country. In-house engineering design centres help develop products to suit individual clients. It is also equipped with in-house steel processing centres which aid enhance quality, ensure cost competitiveness, and create superior products.
Oetiker India has bagged orders to supply its products for the newly launched car models like Tata Nano, Fiat Linea and Maruti Suzuki Ritz. The company has a long list of automotive clients and claims that most cars plying on Indian roads have at least 15 Oetiker products fitted into them for various purposes.
Talking to the press after inauguration, the CEO Mr. Ulrich Meier said, “The new plant will have a significant impact on our presence in the country. India has been among the few to have a robust economy, despite slowdown. The Indian car market has remained highly active throughout the meltdown period. Hence we wish to further strengthen our presence in this region to create long term relations with the domestic and global customers.”
The country head for Oetiker India Mr. Ashwani Keswani said, “India is fast emerging as the global automotive manufacturing and sourcing hub. We are centrally located to deliver just in time delivery to our customers.”
