Nano Platform to Host Electric and Hybrid Cars

Tata Motors plans to build hybrid cars and electric cars based on the platform of the Nano car. World's cheapest car Tata Nano has been hailed as a stunning innovation in car manufacturing.


In a report, Tata Group has said that Tata Motors needs to target exports of the car in other developing countries like Brazil, China, Indonesia and Russia, where export growth rates are more than 10 percent.


Tata Nano is compared to the Model T from Ford Motors which made cars more affordable to common people. Highlighting the innovativeness and innovations in a report, the Tata Group also said that the Nano is not just a car to Tata Motors but will be used as a platform to build more high-end models that will sell for higher prices and yield better margins. The Nano is currently available only in petrol version but will be used as a base to build and develop future electric cars and hybrid cars.


Tata Motors is on the verge of launching an electric car based on the Indica Vista in Norway.
