In the first part of its launch series, General Motors India has launched the LPG version of Chevrolet Spark in the country on Friday. It is priced at around Rs 3.52 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
Speaking to media persons about the launch, the President and Managing Director Mr. Karl Slym said “We plan to continue to introduce the variance of Spark that targets different groups of customers. This will enable us to achieve our goal of becoming a market leader in India by giving our customers the vehicles they want.”
In order to remove any fears of GM leaving India, the company has launched a campaign “There for you, there for India”. The company also plans to launch the luxury sedan Chevrolet Cruze in September and a mini car, smaller than Spark by the end of this year.
Earlier this week, the company had issued a statement that its India operations remained unaffected despite its parent company facing bankruptcy. However, it has a problem raising funds for its new engine plant at Talegaon from the banks.
