New Fiat Grande Punto tests Indian waters

The long wait for Grande Punto is over. Fiat, the Italian car manufacturer, has launched its premium small car “Grande Punto” in India on Wednesday, June 17th which is available in diesel and petrol variants.

"The launch of Grande Punto marks a new milestone for Fiat in India as we bring the quintessentially Italian designs to Indian shores," said Rajeev Kapoor, Chief Executive Officer, Fiat India Automobiles Ltd. (FIAL).

Initially launched in the European market in 2005, Grande Punto, would be now available in India through over 100 Tata-Fiat dealers network across the country.

The new Fiat Grande Punto hatchback would be manufactured from the company's plant at Ranjangaon in Maharashtra, where it produces Palio Stile and Linea. There will be four variants each in both petrol (1.2-litre and 1.4-litre) and diesel models (1.3-litre), which would be priced between Rs 3.99 Lakh and Rs 6.11 Lakh (Ex-showroom, Delhi).
