The Indian unit of Sweden's Volvo Car Corporation has reduced the price of its XC90 sport utility vehicle by Rs 4 Lakhs. The new pricing of this top-end SUV is likely to be a result of the announcement made in the new Union Budget for the current year.
Volvo Car Corporation is Sweden's largest car company that has ventured into the Indian car market with the luxury sports utility vehicle, the Volvo XC90. The XC90 is Volvo's first SUV, introduced in 2002. This SUV is acclaimed for its advanced design, which smartly combines an SUV and saloon in a clever seven-seat configuration. Volvo sells the XC90 in one diesel and two petrol engine versions in India.
The top-end V8 petrol version will cost Rs 49.5 Lakh (ex showroom New Delhi) after the price cut, while the 3.2-liter petrol model will be priced at Rs 43.5 Lakh. Volvo Car Corporation also sells the XC90 D5 diesel model, which will cost Rs 42.5 Lakh after the price reduction.
The premium SUV competes with the Audi Q7, the Porsche Cayenne, The Mitsubishi Montero, the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, the Volkswagen Touareg, and the recently launched Land Rover Discovery 3.
