Audi, the German luxury car maker turned 100 on Thursday. It celebrated its birthday with the dream of becoming the world's leading luxury car producer.
Audi was founded by the German engineer August Horch on 16th July 1910. The name came from the Latin Translation of the word Horch, which in German meant 'listen'.
Audi India is a part of the Audi Group which comes in the folds of the global Volkswagen Group. Audi that started business in India with the collaboration with its sister concern Skoda, which also is a part of the Volkswagen Group, has a lined up an assortment of luxurious cars.
Audi India has recently launched the Audi Q5 and the new Audi A6, bringing the total number of Audi models available in India to seven. By introducing three new engine options, Audi India also expanded the engine range of Audi A4 to five engines. This is the widest engine range in the luxury car market in India.
Audi has a firm grip in the Indian car market and continues to register strong growth in terms of sales in India. Despite the challenging market situation, Audi India has shown consistent growth over the last six months.
Audi is celebrating its hundredth birthday at the Audi headquarters in the southern German town of Ingolstadt. The German Chancellor Angela Merkel was one of the guests in the gala event that was organized later.
