Japanese car company, Toyota Motor Corporation has decided to introduce its Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV), the Fortuner in India on 24th August.
Toyota's Indian arm Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) is considering that the Fortuner will achieve a 50 per cent market share in that segment.
The Deputy Managing Director of Toyota Kirloskar Motor, Sandeep Singh revealed that the company was aiming to sell 2,000 units of Fortuner by the end of this year and also mentioned that the sporty Fortuner will carry a price tag of around Rs 20 Lakh.
The car company announced that Toyota will not launch any new car in the period between the inauguration of the Fortuner on 24th August and its upcoming compact car by next year-end. This does not include the launch of limited editions of existing models.
The Toyota Fortuner debuted in 2005. A redesigned version of it was unveiled in August 2008. The new model came with All Wheel Drive (AWD) for the first time.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor rolled the face lifted version of the luxury sedan 2010 Toyota Camry last week.
