Maruti Suzuki India will be launching its sports luxury car Kizashi in India by 2010.

With the launch of the Kizashi, Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) will compete with big car makers like the Honda and Toyota for a chunk in the Indian Car market. The Maruti Suzuki Kizashi will be launched in the 2010 Auto Expo.

Maruti Suzuki Kizashi, a mid-sized sedan will be driven by a 2.4-litre Euro IV engine mated to a 6- speed manual transmission or an optional automatic transmission with Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) technology and will have paddle shifters mounted on the steering wheel.

Maruti Suzuki has had tried its hand in the premium-to-luxury cars in India without much success. The Baleno did not get a warm welcome while the SX4 launched in 2007 lost its charm soon after the advent of the New Honda City. Maruti Suzuki's premium cars have been rated low on quality and performance.

Kizashi was first unveiled in 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show and is available in the U.S. market. It is expected that this car will be India's first all-wheel-drive luxury car in India in the Rs 10-13 lakh price bracket. This car is likely to run on 21 inch wheels and is expected to be built in Maruti's Manesar facility.
