The much-awaited Porsche Panamera will be launched in India next week. Panamera is a four-door luxury coupe sedan from Porsche. The car was first launched at the Shanghai International Auto show, which was held in April. Panamera will be the most expensive sedan from the German car maker, and it will be priced around Rs. 2 crore because of its high import duty.
It has options of both front-engine and rear wheel drive and four-wheel option. The front engine and rear wheel drive option can reach up to a top speed of 303 km per hour and accelerate up to 100 km in just 4.2 seconds.
Precision Cars India is the importer of Porsche cars to India. It already claims to have got 13 bookings for Panamera and targets to sell 50 cars this fiscal. "There is great expectation from Panamera in India and it will hit the market on October 6. The demand for sporty cars is already on the rise and customers are looking at the latest models," said MD of Precision Cars India, Rod Wallace.
Panamera is expected to have multi-engine including S, 4S, and the turbo power variants. Apart from the regular, front passenger and curtain airbags, it has knee airbags. And Panamera will be the first car in the segment to have knee airbags for added safety. The other cars from Porsche that would be sold in India include the two-seater sports car like Carerra 911, Cayman, Boxter and the sports utility vehicle Cayenne.
