Tata Motors on Wednesday said it has launched an advanced version of its sedan ‘Indigo CS’ in both petrol and diesel modes in the country, priced between Rs 4.07 lakh and Rs 5.13 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The new car, Indigo e-CS has been built on the company’s existing Indigo platform and comes as a successor to the compact sedan Indigo CS, Tata Motors said in a statement.
The diesel version is fitted with the 1.4 litre CR4 common rail engine, and as per the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) conditions, the car gives a mileage of 23.03 kilometre per litre, which the company claims to be the highest among all sedans in the country. ‘Indigo e-CS’ will also be available with a 1.2 litre MPFI petrol engine. Both diesel and petrol variants are Bharat Stage-IV emission norms compliant.
“The Indigo CS has dominated the entry mid-size segment in the country for almost two years with its proposition of being the most compact sedan in the market. If the Indigo CS was the most compact sedan in the world, the Indigo e-CS has set a fresh benchmark by also becoming the most fuel efficient sedan in the country,” the company said.
The petrol variants of the current Indigo CS come equipped with a 64 bhp 1.2-litre multi-point fuel injection in-line 4 engine and the diesel variants get either a 1.4-litre turbocharged or same size DiCOR diesel engine that delivers an output of 69 bhp.
