Hyundai Motor Co. has announced that its Sonata mid-size sedan has sold more than 5 million units globally. Hyundai Sonata was launched about 25 years ago in 1985. About 2.7 million units of Sonata models, including the Sonata YF and the a few others, were sold in South Korea and the rest of the world. Sonata is currently in its sixth generation.
“The Hyundai Sonata is the very history of South Korea's mid-size sedans that enjoyed the great affection of customers for the past 25 years, even called the best sedan of South Korea,” a Hyundai executive said.
Hyundai Sonata, after Accent and the Avante, is one the three most coveted South Korean vehicles to have achieved this global sales milestone of 5 million units. The long history of this magnificent history of 25 years, the 2011 Hyundai Sonata will be launched this week.
The new Sonata features a motor-driven power steering system and has improved fuel economy. Hyundai Motors will introduce the next generation hybrid Sonata in the second half of the financial year 2010.
