Volkswagen has launched its entry level premium sedan the Vento. It will go on sale from September 6, 2010 across India in all Volkswagen dealers. It will be available to customers at Rs 6.99 Lakh (1.6 Trendline Petrol), Rs 8.23 Lakh (1.6 Highline Petrol), Rs 9.21 lakh (1.6 Highline Petrol), Rs 7.99 lakh (1.6 Trendline TDI Diesel) and Rs 9.23 lakh (1.6 Highline TDI Diesel), ex-showroom New Delhi.
The 1.6 litre petrol engine delivers 103 bhp at 5250 rpm and a torque of 153 NM at 3800 rpm, while the 1.6 litre diesel engine delivers 103 bhp at 4400 rpm and a torque of 250 NM at 1500-2500 rpm. The petrol variant is paired with a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gear box and boasts of fuel efficiency of 15.83 kmpl and 14.4 kmpl respectively. The diesel variant is paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox and delivers 20.54 kmpl.
The interior is equipped with storage compartment in front doors for 1 litre bottles, sunglass storage inside glove box, foldable roof handles with coat hooks, front and rear centre armrest, cupholders and Livon fabric upholstery.
The new car has body coloured bumpers, chrome inlays in front grille, body coloured exterior door handles and mirrors (Highline), rough road package with increased ground clearance and partially zinc coated body with 6 years anti-rust warranty.
The Vento Highline is equipped with ABS, front airbags for driver and co-driver, anti-theft system with interior surveillance and back up alarm. The Vento Highline offers adjustable front co-driver seat from the rear, CD MP3 player with 4 speakers, electrically adjustable outside mirrors, climatronic automatic air conditioning with rear AC vents and remote control for central locking. Multi function information display including door opening warning, height adjustable driving seats and a steering wheel adjustable for reach and rake are also available.
