By Motortrend India Staff   |   12 December,2010

Mahindra Reva Electric Vehicles has announced its plans to make the REVAi electric vehicle available at four Mahindra dealers in Pune. This comes as one of the major initiatives announced by the company after its acquisition of the Reva car by the Mahindra Group in May 2010. Mahindra Reva is planning to extend the market across the country by making the car available at several Mahindra dealers in the country.

“We were till now present only in Bangalore and Delhi. So, in the first phase, we have taken up Delhi, Jaipur, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Cochin, Trichur, Calicut and Pune. So, Mahindra dealers in this place will distribute our cars, so that gives us a huge boost of increased network of dealership,” said R. Chandramouli, Chief of Operations, Mahindra Reva.

The Indian government is also coming forward to promote electric cars in India as issues of global warming and energy security have made electric cars an attractive option.

“Last 15 days back, the government announced a 20 percent subsidy on electric vehicles, which is a very significant move by the government and we really appreciate it. With that, the prices have come down and I think it will become more and more affordable,” said R. Chandramouli.

The REVAi is an advance electric car that is equipped with a boost mode for acceleration and power. It is one of the most eco-friendly and economical cars available in the market, and offers easy driving experience in the city. The REVAi will be available for about Rs 3,10,000.
