German luxury car maker Mercedes-Benz India has reported a 58.8% jump in sales to 640 units in January 2011, its highest-ever tally for the month in any year. The company sold 403 units in the same month last year, Mercedes-Benz India said in a statement.
Mercedes Benz India sold a total of 265 units of its popular sedan C-Class, while E-Class was bought by 252 people in India. Mercedes recorded sales of 46 premium S-Class sedans in January, 2011, it added. The company also sold a total 67 units of its sports utility vehicles including M, GL and R class.
“2010 was an exciting year for us. While the market grew at 60 per cent, we at Mercedes-Benz India managed a growth of 80 per cent. This clearly shows that our exciting products, strong brand traction and ownership experience continue to be highly appreciated by our customers”, Mercedes-Benz India Managing Director and CEO Peter T Honegg said.
On the other hand, another German luxury car-maker, Audi, sold 480 units in January, 2011, its highest-ever monthly sales in India, as compared to the 306 units sold in the same month last year, translating into a 56.86% increase.
