Mitsubishi Motors, leading Japanese car makers, plan to launch an electrically operated car in India. The car will be powered with lithium-ion batteries, which can be charged upto 80 percent in 30 minutes with a special charging system. The rear wheels take the burden of the motor. The car is expected to run approximately 90 miles in a single charge with a top speed of around 90 km/h.

MiEV (Mitsubishi innovative electric vehicle) has already been launched in Japan and Hong Kong and will be seen in India in few years. At present, Maini REVAi rules the road in the electric car segment in India with its unique design and style.

Mitsubishi’s ‘Outlander’ in the SUV class (displayed in the 2008 Auto Expo) will be launched in India soon and will be priced at around Rs 32 Lakh. Equipped with a 2.4-litre engine and enhanced with amazing features, this SUV is based on an all-wheel-drive control system. At present, the company has no plans to enter the small car segment because they want to build a strong base in the SUV segment. The Outlander will be Mitsubishi’s 5th vehicle launch in India.

The Lancer Evolution, popular amongst the racers, also plans to invade the Indian auto market shortly.
