Newcomer i10 outsmarted many players in the car award show

This New Year, Delhi is full with auto events. Be it Expo or award ceremony. The 7th Edition of the CNBC-TV18 Autocar Auto Awards was held in New Delhi on January 9.  

The last seven years, the awards have been the benchmark for auto excellence in the country. CNBC-TV18 Autocar Auto Awards placed 2008’s finalists on fitness based on value for money, relevance to the Indian market, purpose, styling, interiors, engine, performance, fuel efficiency, and so on. Cars launched in 2007 were part of the contenders’ line-up in these awards. The latest Hyundai i10 drove away with the ‘Car of the Year’ award and it also bagged the ‘Best Compact Car’ award. The ‘Man of the Year’ award went to Jagdish Khattar, Managing Director for Maruti Udyog Ltd.

Here is the list of other winners at the CNBC-TV18 Autocar Auto Awards 2008. Maruti SX4 won ‘Best Value for Money Car’, Best Mid-size Car’, and ‘Car of the Year-Viewers’ Choice’ and Maruti was given the ‘Manufacturer of the Year’ award. The ‘Best Executive Car’ award went to Honda Civic. BMW-3 series took away the ‘Best Premium Car’ and BMW-5 series received the ‘Best Design and Styling’ award. The ‘Variant of the Year’ award went to Chevrolet Optra Magnum diesel.
