Maruti cars become costlier this week

India’s largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki India has raised prices on all its car models. The company has stated that rise in raw material costs has forced them to effect this price hike. The prices are now up from between Rs 1,000 to Rs 10,000.

The bread and butter car for the company – the Maruti 800 will now cost higher by Rs 1000. Currently, the different variants of the 800 model cost between Rs 1.96 Lakh to Rs 2.17 Lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Maruti’s best seller Alto sees an increase of Rs 2500 that brings its variant prices in the bracket of Rs 2.38 Lakh to Rs 2.9 Lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

Suzuki’s tall boy Wagon R (petrol) has gone up by Rs 3500. This car would now be available in the range of Rs 3.32 Lakh to Rs 4.52 Lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The LPG variant of Wagon R has been hiked by Rs 1000 only. The Zen Estilo has also become costlier by Rs 2000 and its variants now stand between Rs 3.23 Lakh and Rs 3.77 Lakh.

The highest increase has been affected on the fast selling sedan SX4. All variants of the SX4 have been hiked by Rs 9,000 to Rs 10,000. The base sedan would now be available at Rs 6.3 Lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and the top end variant will now be available at Rs 7 Lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

Other models like the Omni van sees a hike of Rs 2500 and the Versa will be costlier by Rs 4000. Prices are expected to rise even further in the upcoming weeks.
