Fabia had a fabulous track record in India so far since its launch in January 2008. Taking a cue from this, Skoda has now brought out Fabia 1.2 MPI to the existing models.
It has added a petrol version to the existing diesel variant. The new model was unveiled on Friday at Pune. It will be available in three versions- Active, Classic and Ambiente. The newly launched Fabia will be priced from Rs 4.86 lakh onwards.
The petrol engine powered Fabia will come with a 1,198 cc DOHC (double overhead cam) petrol engine puffing out 85 bhp of power. The car will come with dual airbags, rear wash and wipe and collapsible steering wheel. The fuel economy is expected to rise with the new MPI version and emissions are going to be low.
According to company officials the 1.2 MPI engine comes with high level of engineering which will deliver higher performance, drivability and improved ride quality. It will be available in seven new colours – candy white, cappuccino beige, brilliant silver, magic black, satin grey, corrida red and tangerine orange.
Talking about the new Fabia, board member of the sales and marketing of Skoda India, Mr. Thomas Kuehl said “The Fabia 1.2 MPI with HTP (high torque performance) engine considerably enhances the drivability and fuel efficiency of the car to satisfy our customers. It has all the attributes of the Fabia range which has been appreciated by critics since its launch. Fabia aims to a become part of the modern lifestyle of urban couples in India.”
The company has sold over 3,500 units of Fabia till April this year. The company plans to sell 10,000 units in 2008 and the petrol version is likely to sell 40 percent more.
