India’s second largest car manufacturer Hyundai Motors has introduced the CNG variant of Accent. This is the second time that the company has introduced the CNG variant of an existing model after launching the CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) variant of Santro in last year.

The new variant will be available in dual fuel mode – petrol and CNG, and will be costlier by Rs 56,500 as compared to the petrol version.

The existing petrol version model costs Rs 4.99 lakh and is fitted with a 1.5liter petrol engine. The duel fuel engine will use Compressed Natural Gas as an alternative fuel source.

The Managing Director of Hyundai Motors India Mr. HS Lheem said, “The Accent has been a very popular model in the mid-size car segment in our portfolio. A CNG variant will help to position the car more competitively against other mid-size cars. It will appeal to people concerned about environment.”

The CNG kit has been made safe, all precautions have been taken care to prevent bursts. The CNG kit comes with an advanced Lambada control system. The CNG version is environment friendly as it meets the Euro III emission norms.

Hyundai has tied up with CEV, a Korean CNG kit supplier, to supply all the components required for the kit. The CNG variant will be launched in collaboration with CEV India. The CNG variant of Accent will initially be available in Delhi and NCR.
