Audi R8 which is scheduled to launch in November has already registered an impressive sales before the launch of the car.
The company has already grasped 15 orders for Audi R8, the bookings for the car started in June. Priced at Rs 1.3 crore, the car will be imported directly from Germany.
According to one of the Audi spokesperson, “In Germany, people have to wait for months for delivery of the R8. Since the car is partly handmade, the numbers are limited. The car is almost sold out globally this year.”
Currently there are only 2 or 3 R8s found on Indian roads which has been bought through direct imports. Globally 2,952 units of the R8 have been sold.
The 420-horsepower car has permanent all-wheel drive with a mid-engine and gets and an all-aluminium body frame. The car will be competing against the Porsche Carrera S, which is priced at Rs 86.05 lakh.
According to Rod Wallace, Managing Director, Porsche India, “The Indian market has discerning buyers who are prepared to pay for luxury, provided the quality and overall experience is superior.”
With so many luxury cars pouring in India, the car industry is experiencing a sudden increase in demand for this segment car. Many car manufacturers are entering the Indian car market with new car models as they have sensed the Indian market potential.
