Volkswagen, the German auto manufacturer is planning to set up a research centre in India. This Research & Development centre will be similar to the existing research centre in china that was inaugurated three years ago. The main purpose behind building this research centre is to study accident sites which will help the company to upgrade its cars with safety features accordingly.
According to the company official, “It was in the 2005, the company set up an accident research centre, where they visit the accident site and investigate the actual cause and then use the findings as design inputs. This is the similar concept that will be followed in Indian research centre.”
The Volkswagen is one of the active players in the Indian car market and has rolled out successful models in the country with their subsidiaries The Audi and Skoda is selling their cars in the Indian market.
Currently, Volkswagen cars in India is enhanced with basic safety features and in future will be bringing more features like lane departure warning, night view and more.
