General Motors India has registered a sales growth of 25 % in the month of July at 5,706 units against 4,570 units during the same month last year.
According to the company, the July 2008 sales consist of 3,570 units of the Chevrolet Spark, 921 units of the Chevrolet Tavera, 501 units of the Chevrolet Aveo, 344 units of the Chevrolet Optra and 370 units of the Chevrolet Captiva. The monthly gush in sales figures is mainly driven by the Chevrolet Spark which has emerged as a great value for money proposition.
Mr. P. Balendran, Vice-President, General Motors India said, "Despite a lethargic market, our positive monthly sales figure is a clear indication of the success of our carlines. The Chevrolet Spark has made serious inroads in the Indian small car segment.”
He also said to meet the increasing demand for the Chevrolet brand of vehicles, the company is on a network expansion drive and aimed to set up a total of 190 sales and service points across the country by the end of this year.
Overall, the month of July has proved profitable for the car manufacturers compared to June with tremendously increased sales.
