Every car manufacturer is planning big for India. In order to get a grip of the Indian car market, the Volvo Car India (VCI) is aiming to build up its dealer network and launch 2-3 new models in future.
According to VCI's Managing Director, Mr. Paul de Voijs, “Presently Volvo has dealerships in Delhi, Mumbai and Chandigarh and we will soon there in Hyderabad, Bangalore, Cochin and Pune. By end of 2008, the company targets on selling 400-500 cars.”
At the moment, Volvo has 10 cars in its portfolio and planning to launch 2-3 new car models by the end of this year. Since its advent in India, the company has sold 100 cars. The company is also thinking to set up an assembly line but only after they make a thorough study on the Indian car market.
Very recently VCI, a division of Ford Motor Company has also gifted S80, a sedan worth Rs 39 lakh to Olympic gold medalist Abhinav Bindra.
