Many global auto component manufacturers are offering a helping hand to Indian automobile manufacturers. One such company is Stadco Automotive India, a subsidiary of the UK-based auto component manufacturer Stadco, is helping the manufacturers in designing their automobile products.

According to Peter Spackman, Stadco Emerging Market Director, “We have bagged three projects from Indian passenger car and commercial vehicle manufacturers whose names I am not at liberty to disclose.”

Stadco designs, develops and supplies automotive body structures to car manufacturers such as BMW, Jaguar, Ford, Land Rover, Austin, General Motors and Toyota.

Stadco inaugurated its product development technical centre in India. The center will have 15 engineers, and is planning to increase its strength to 100 over the next 12 to 18 months. However, Spackman did not reveal its financial figures and the centre would bear the product design and development requirements of Indian original equipment manufacturers (OEM) and customers.

Spackman added, “Going forward, we may also undertake design and development work for our overseas customers.” According to Paul Jaggers, Product Development Director, “We have been operating within the Indian automotive market for some time now and have a good working relationship with a number of Indian customers. We see the opening of a technical centre as a natural progression and part of Stadco's plans to further develop activities in India.”
