Mahindra & Mahindra will introduce its MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) in India by the end of 2008. Built on completely new platform, this MPV would be rolled out from the company’s plant at Nasik.

Currently named as Ingenio (it is the project name), Mahindra & Mahindra is yet to decide on the brand name of the vehicle.

According to Mr. Pawan Goenka, President (automotive sector), Mahindra & Mahindra, “The news of MPV launch by 2008 end is confirmed by the company and the name of the vehicle too will be decided shortly.”

When asked about the present global turbulence in the auto market, Mr. Goenka commented that the expansion plans and the planned product launches would be on track, as these are short-term concerns, which will not affect the company’s achieving long-term objectives.

The company was also planning to launch of the new variant of Logan, a seven seater for India but the launch is put on hold until the market improves.
