Finally, the Maruti Suzuki’s A-Star has made its grand entry today in the Indian car market. The car was first showcased at the 2008 Auto Expo held in New Delhi and received a very good reponses in terms of design and style.
The car is equipped with 1.0-litre light-weight aluminum K10B petrol engine mated with 5-speed manual transmission that churns out 67bhp. The front and the rear suspension is well-tuned giving total comfort and handling that perfectly suits the Indian road conditions. It is the best fuel-efficient car in its segment with a fuel economy of around 19 km/L.
The new generation three cylinder engine follows the BS-III emission norm and is sculptured keeping in mind the current and the forthcoming environment norms in India as well the Western countries.
The car displays a distinctive design and style with low grille, aggressive and sporty front bumper, and well-carved eye shaped headlamps. A-Star from the A-segment is a five-door hatchback and carries the price tag ranging from Rs 3.47 to Rs 4.1 Lakh. The new car is the first model in India to be introduced with KB series engine. Initially, the company aims to sell only 50,000 A-Star per annum.
The car will be manufactured in over 200 variants and exported to around 150 countries across Europe, the Middle East, Latin America, Asia, Australia, and Africa.
