Honda Sales Down by 4 percent

The global recession has affected the Indian auto industry badly. As a result of the economic slowdown, all car manufacturers are experiencing a dip in their sales. The Honda Siel Cars India (HSCI) sales dropped by 4 percent at 1,476 units during October'08, when compared to 5,287 units in the same month last fiscal.


During the month of October’08, the overall Honda sales 707 units of flagship model City ZX, 422 units of Civic, 244 units of luxury sedan Accord, and 103 units of SUV CR-V. The green version of Civic - the Civic hybrid also recorded a sale of 52 units since its launch.


Recently, the company has also set up the 1st phase of operations at its second plant at Tapukara Industrial Area, Rajasthan. The new car plant carries excellent manufacturing techniques. The plant also features latest technologically advanced powertrain unit for engine components.


The leading premium car manufacturer will roll out the Jazz - the premium hatchback in India in 2009 and initially it will be out from the current plant at Greater Noida. The company is also planning to start a R&D facility in India that will concentrate on market and environmental research for the development of local components and materials appropriate to Indian conditions.
