The demand of electric cars and plug-in hybrids is increasing with the growing awareness of eco-friendly concern. This has eventually compelled Maini Reva to boost the production of its electric car.
The desire to push production is also driven by the increasing fuel prices and liberal rules set for trading of electric cars both in the domestic as well as international market.
Chetan Maini, Reva’s Chief Technology Officer, announced that the company has plans to set up a new car production plant by mid of next year which will eventually increase the production to about 30,000 vehicles annually. In addition, the production capacity of 6,000 cars in the present day production plant will lead to an overall increase.
Adding to this, Mr. Maini also said that the government incentives are lending good support to the car. In London, electric cars get free parking and in China, parking of non-electric scooters is banned.
Maini also revealed that the company has plans to expand its car portfolio in the country alongside upgrades to the existing Reva model.
