German luxury car manufacturer, Daimler, who owns the badge of Mercedes-Benz, plans to introduce six new AMG models in India.
All the AMG models are expected to launch soon within a price range of Rs 1.25 Crore to Rs 3 Crore. These will also be tagged as the company’s most expensive car models. The AMG models will be custom ordered and imported from Germany with a delivery time of about two to three months.
The decision to launch the new car models despite of a sluggish car market was not clear unless a senior executive of Mercedes said, “The premium end of the car market has not been impacted by the economic turmoil and is growing very well. Also, the base is low. Consumers are looking for a larger range of premium cars to choose from and we will only fill that need.”
According to Mercedes, three big Germany car players comprising Mercedes, BMW, and Audi are expected to surpass the sales target with double digit growth. Even the demands of high-end cars like Lamborghini, Bentley, Rolls Royce, and Porsche have increased in India. Porsche also plans to double its sales and Lamborghini has sold out about 11 cars in India.
In addition to the new car launch, the car manufacturer also plans to venture into a partnership with ICICI Bank to help prospective car buyers seeking car finance for the new AMG models.
