Honda Aims at Higher Sales in India

The renowned car manufacturer, Honda Siel Cars India (HSCI), is aiming at the sales target of 65,000 to 70,000 units for 2008.

According to A V Prabhu Kumar, Zonal Head- South, HSCI, "India is the number one buyer for Honda City and the company is looking ahead of selling nearly 65,000 to 70,000 cars compared to 62,000 units last year.

The new Honda City is enhanced with 1.5L, 4 cylinder new generation i-VTEC engine. It also offers a 5 speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters.

In the words of Tatsuya Natsume, Director- Marketing, HSCI, “The new Honda City would definitely push the car sales further and he also portrayed Indian as the prime market for Honda in the global scenario.”

The company is also planning to increase the production capacity of its plant in Greater Noida, from 60,000 units to 100,000 units per annum. The new Honda City is available in two variants - 1.5E (MT) and 1.5S (MT and AT) and offers a choice of six attractive colours.
