The German luxury car manufacturer, Audi, is all set to introduce more new models to India with a hope to triple its sales by 2010. The company plans to sell around 3000 units annually in the coming years.
In the last 2 years the company has introduced five new models in India. Audi is experiencing a good growth in the Indian market and to further strengthen its position, it plans to roll out a range of coupes, convertibles, and the sedan A1 in India.
The latest addition to Audi India credential is the sports car, R8, which carries an expensive price tag of Rs 1.17 Crore (excluding local taxes and transportation cost).
According to Benoit Tiers, M.D, Audi India, "India has a great potential and the Indian car market is one of the fastest growing market in the world for Audi”. The company sells around 1 Lakh units every year. Audi has experienced a market feedback in India and this is the reason why its wants to expand the product portfolio.
The company has made an investment of around Rs 1.9 billion at the Aurangabad plant located in Maharashtra which has the present production capacity of 1,000 units annually.
