Porsche Plans for India

The famous sports car manufacturer, Porsche, is thinking big for India. Tagged as the most profitable car manufacturers in the world, the company is now planning to increase its dealership network and also aiming four-fold sales increase in a span of 2-3 years.

Currently, the Porsche has 2 dealerships in India, which will increase to 5 by 2009 and eventually to 11 car dealers by 2010.

According to a company senior official “Porsche will soon represent in all major cities like Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Ludhiana besides Delhi and Mumbai. He further added that the company has also sales targets of 250 units next year and 450-500 units by 2012.

In India, Porsche sells just 100 cars due to the expensive price of its cars. Porsche’s entry level cars cost Rs 50 lakh. The company is working on the launch of its sedan Panamera in India and it will also be the company's first global launch in the country.
