Hyundai is planning to introduce its most awaited i20 to the Indian car market by the year end. The company is ready for the launch to deliver a new sense of excitement and thrill in the current gloomy car market.

Priced at around Rs 5 Lakh, the car will be powered with a refined 1.4-litre petrol kappa engine. It will roll out from the company's Chennai facility and is expected to take over Maruti Suzuki Swift Zxi and Skoda Fabia.

Export of Hyundai i20 to Europe has already begun in November 2008 where the i20 is expected to replace Hyundai Getz over the mid term. However, the company has not made any such commitment for the Indian market. Senior Vice President of Hyundai, Arvind Saxena said,“A lot will depend on the market conditions. In another five years, a number of our models may or may not be phased out.”

Hyundai has not yet disclosed any launch date. There are only few days left for the year to end. In such a short span, its difficult to say how the company will manage the launch.
