Volvo Car India, the renowned luxury car manufacturer, is planning to introduce 25 special edition of SUVs in India in support with Volvo Ocean Race. The SUVs will be directly imported to India. Around 10,000 units of these special edition SUVs is expected to be sold worldwide as part of the nine-month long Volvo Ocean Race.
According to Paul de Voijs, Managing Director Volvo Car India, "India is an important market and the company sees a great potential for its car models in the country. Therefore, the company wants to build a strong base in the country, which was debuted in India just a year ago".
Currently, Volvo India stable rolls models like Volvo C70, Volvo S80, and Volvo XC90. The company has sold nearly 100 cars between January to December this year. Volvo has four car dealerships located at Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Chandigarh. The company also plans to add six more dealerships by 2009.
The XC90 Volvo Ocean Edition was launched in two colours: Blue Pearl and Electric Silver metallic colour. The rear fender and the roof rails flaunts with an Ocean Race emblem. This SUV with the capacity of 5 seats carries the price tag of Rs 50 Lakh, where as the seven seater is available at a cost of Rs 51.5 Lakh.
