No fire safety clearance for Auto Expo: Delhi Fire Brigade

By Motortrend India Staff   |   04 January,2012

The organisers of Auto Expo have not got the clearance from the Delhi Fire Service to go ahead with one of the largest automobile exhibitions starting today.

Fire Brigade officials said they have pointed out short comings in the safety preparedness of the venue and asked the organizers to rectify it.

However, the official said, the organisers have not got back to the fire department and so technically the clearance from them is not there.

Despite repeated attempts, the organisers did not respond to the calls or SMS. Over one lakh people are expected to visit the latest edition of Auto Expo which will be open to the public from January 7 to 11.

The Auto Expo will witness 50 global brands showcasing their products.

The organisers have decided to restrict the number of people present inside the venue to one lakh daily, including 30,000 people from the exhibitors’ side, a move that could cost the Delhi Auto Expo its tag of being the world’s second-largest auto show in terms of footfalls.
