Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd. (M&M Ltd.), India’s leading SUV manufacturer, kick started the Monsoon Challenge 2012 in association with Apollo Tyres. Promising to be one of the biggest TSD (time, speed, distance) rallies with the most rewarding prize money on offer, the Monsoon Challenge 2012, currently in its second season, will see participation from over 50 vehicles, from the Mahindra stable, maneuvering the challenging route of more than 1000 km in 4 days.
Held under the Mahindra Adventure umbrella, it is a part of the Challenge series of motorsport events that was launched last year. A unique concept to showcase the off-roading capabilities of Mahindra vehicles, Mahindra Adventure functions as an umbrella brand with a series of adventure and motor sports events organised under its banner. The TSD rallies are not only about speed. The driver and the navigator are expected to keep a track of time in tandem with the distance covered. The Monsoon Challenge 2012 promises to be one of India’s biggest TSD rallies, which will start from the IT capital of the country – Bengaluru. The rally will make its way through Mangalore, Shimoga and Karwar to the party capital of the country – Goa. Enroute, the participants will navigate highways, B roads, rough road stretches, with the magnificent Western Ghats in the backdrop. With a total prize money worth Rs. 12 lakh on offer, which is by far one of the highest amounts for any motorsport event in India, this event is being held exclusively for Mahindra owners. The event has also been duly approved by the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI).
