Maruti Suzuki is all set to resume production at its riot-torn Manesar facility from August 21, albeit on a small scale.
The production work at Manesar plant will take off under heavy security, with 300 workers working daily basis to roll out 150 Swift hatchbacks and DZire sedans from its two plants. Maruti had locked its Manesar Plant on July 21 after workers ran amok killing one official and injuring a hundred others.
The company has decided to axe at least 500 permanent workers, including the 154 workers who are in police custody now.
Maruti Suzuki has decided to take this action following police investigation and its internal enquiries. According to its findings, at least 500 permanent workers are alleged to be involved in the violence. Also, depending on further investigation, more labors could face the axe.
