Maruti Suzuki stands as the most preferred car brand for consumers in India. A statistical survey was conducted by one of the leading mobile video web company Vuclip during the month of September 2012. Mobile which is one of the quickest and powerful media for communication in India was chosen as the platform to conduct surveys. The data from this survey seem to give an insight to the mind set of car consumers in India.
The results of the survey of a sample population consisting of 1, 09, 242 people showed that at least 21% of them chose to buy a car from Maruti Suzuki. Hyundai and Honda scored 14% and 11% to become the second and third most liked brands. 9% each of the sample population chose to go with Toyota, Ford and Tata as their desired brand.
Speaking about features, functionality and pricing it was noted that about 15% of another sample population (consisting of 1,84,786 people) gave priority to cost of the vehicle. 12% of the population was highly interested in aesthetics, brand name and what was under the hood when it came to making a call to purchase a particular model. Around one person in ten considered safety as an important aspect while buying a car. About half of the people thought of a budget of Rs 7,00,000 as a maximum for car purchase. 28% of the population was ready to shell out Rs seven to fifteen lakhs for their favorite wagon.
BMW, with all its lavishness and comfort won the race by beating Audi, Mercedes Benz, Jaguar and Rolls Royce to get the highest number of votes in the most fancied luxury car brand India category. The German auto company was followed by a surprising candidate from Britain. Bentely scored 10% of votes and became the second most fancied luxury car brand in India.
